Indian players from the Netherlands sound like a great combination.  Well sorry to say this album really missed the mark for me.  Dreary sound, underwhelming production.  They have over 1000 likes on facebook but not one is facebook a friend of mine.  Its possible that they bought an ad on facebook and received a lot of likes.  I have done the same and those like are not quality likes. 

They don’t really know the product the just click the like button like lemmings.

This album is not really in my sweet spot of prog.  Its instrumental and a bit avant-garde for me.  The melodies come seem dreary when they were probably going for moody.  The first track Be.  Goes on way too long and I get to a point where I don’t want to hear the violins anymore.  Now granted I did listen to the album three times in a row in succession so maybe that does not work with this album so well.  I think they would do well making incidental music for movies.  I say that because I do get a lot of imagery from the music but I am always just hoping the song would end because I personally do not think that the song moves to a new place after even 10 minutes.

When I received this album I noticed that even though I had not heard of them I had over a dozen friends that liked them on facebook.  I was hoping that I had found an undiscovered gem of an album.  Unfortunately for me that was not the case.  Most songs I thought fell flat for me and the quality of the recording just seemed to me to be lack luster, vocals also under average.  Some passages though were very nice and I look forward hearing more from them, but not this album.

This album showed up in my inbox and all thought I try and not look at other people’s reviews I had seen this on someone’s top 10 of 2018.  Then after receiving the album and realizing that the band is from India really intrigued me as I am of the belief that that subcontinent could be a hot bed of progressive rock in the 2020’s. 

As hoped this album delivered on all levels.  Melodic and introspective this album is full of drama, mood, and passion.  The song writing is great for any album let alone a freshman album.

Australian progressive rock band ALITHIA has sent us their second album. With me having an affinity for other Australian bands my hopes were high. The band delivered with a highly textured album. Sometimes soaring to highs with the expressive and sonic sounds.

The albums doesn’t always resonate with me but on the whole I like it. There is a very good chance that at some point this band will put out at 5 star album but its just not quite there for me yet.

ROZ VITALIS was created by composer and keyboardist Ivan Rozmainsky in 2001 and I am just now hearing about them. Thanks to Ivan sending me the latest album.

Now I don’t deny that there is quality work done here but it just not my cup of tea. If you check out my last.fm link below and determine that we have don’t have similar taste then maybe you should give this album a try. The good news is this instrumental album is very diverse. The bad news is I couldn’t find anything really to get excited about this album. Others will certainly hear more in this than I and I hope you do.
