Origins is a double album from the band Existence. There are some really good passages in this album. I personally think the vocals are “off putting” at times despite sounding a bit like Roger Waters. The band has 1000’s of followers on facebook so I am going to just defer to the masses that the vocals are just fine as they are.

Legendary Dutch progressive rock band KAYAK will release their seventeenth studio album entitled “Seventeen” next Friday on January 12th, 2018. Today they have launched an animated video for the track ‘La Peregrina’, the second single to be taken from the album, and you can watch that here:
Founding member Ton Scherpenzeel comments: “‘La Peregrina’ is the story about the merciless passing of time and the vanity of man, as observed by the legendary pearl that represents eternal beauty. It watches the rise and fall of kings and serves to enhance the status of queens who wear it, and knows all their secrets. An intriguing idea that inspired me to write this longest epic – the album version is almost 12 minutes long – on the new KAYAK album.”
Ton comments on the upcoming new record:
“Who would have thought that the quirky Dutch prog band that began its journey in 1973 (the year “See See The Sun” came out) would still have a future some 45 years later. Yes, we have had our share of ups and downs. Often it seemed the band would either break up for good or fade into oblivion. But we didn’t. So here we are, a new line up, but as dedicated to the music as we were in the beginning. If there is a secret to KAYAK’s longevity, it must be that. Writing this, I realize that the album title does not only mark the number of studio albums KAYAK has made up until now. It also represents that exciting feeling of being 17 all over again, embarking on a musical journey, full of expectations. And just like in 1973, I don’t know where it will lead us, but we’re on our way. Here’s to new horizons.”
“Seventeen” is now available to pre-order on 2CD Digipak (featuring an extra disc with 36 minutes of demo material), gatefold 2LP + CD & digital download at www.insideoutmusicshop.com.

Holy Gentle Giant. This album sure sounds like the a fore mentioned band thanks to the vocal harmonies and instrumentation. The well known Nad Sylvan adding to the vocals here.
It has a lot of influences in funk. So much so after about 12 measures I was thinking this was a bad Earth Wind and Fire album.
I think any fan of GG will appreciate this album. I am not sure how much I like it how ever. We picked a few songs for you to try. Why not request one and give it a spin?

So this album had my attention right away I thought it started out decent. But about 15 minutes in I was really done with it. I wanted to like it but frankly the last three songs are under average. I also learned that even vocals that I like can grate on me a bit. I will look forward to their next try but for now this album was a pass for me.

So, I have to say I was struggling with this album at first but I thought it rallied a bit at the end. I reviewed 5 instrumental albums today and I’m thankful that this was not another instrumental. The vocals are a bit raw, so I was wondering if I should be careful what I wish for.
The album started out a bit like a to hard version of Mars Volta or Origin of Animal. But the more I listened the more I liked it. It sounds mostly like a punk album at first but upon further listening I can see how prog fans might like that just like they seem to like The Fierce and the Dead.

So this is my first time listening to Gaillion a self described power trio, formed in Avon, CT. I have to say its quite good. This is a 5 song EP featuring the brand new single, “The Focal Point”, as well as updated mixes of the four previously available singles.
I think the new track is my favorite so I have it below for you to request.
